DOC: HUMAN PARASITOLOGY LABORATORY

This laboratory is designed to teach students at Kansas Stat e University the basics of identification of common eukaryotic parasites of humans. This course is targeted for sophomore/junior students and at least one course in General Biology is required as a prerequisite. In addition, Biology 545 (human parasitology lecture) is required either as a prerequisite or co-requisite. It is often helpful to also brin g the Biology 545 text with you to each laboratory....   MEDICAL PARASITOLOGY

... THIS LECTURE NOTE IS USEFUL TO STUDENT S OF HEALTH SCIENCE, MEDICINE AND OTHER STUDENTS AND ACADEMICIANS. IT IS BELIEVED TO PROVIDE BASIC KN OWLEDGE TO STUDENTS ON MEDICAL PARASITOLOGY. IT ALSO SERVES AS A GOOD REFERENCE TO PARASITOLOGISTS, GRADUATE STUDENTS, BIOMEDICAL PERSONNEL, AND HEAL TH PROFESSIONALS. IT AIMS AT INTRODUCING GENERAL ASPECTS OF MEDICALLY IMPORTANT PARASITES PREVALENT IN THE TROPICS AND IN ETHIOPIA IN PAR TICULAR. IT IS OUR BELIEF THAT THIS NOTE WILL CONTRIBUTE MUCH IN ALLEVIATING THE SHOR TAGE OF PARASITOLOGY TEXTS. ...

  HUMAN VALUES AND SECURITY TECHNOLOGIES

... TECHNOLOGY AND HUMAN VALUES ARE DEEPLY INTER- LINKED. YET, THROUGH EDUCATIONAL TRADITIONS, SCIENTIFIC PARADIGMS AND INSTITUTIONAL INERTIA, THEY TEND TO BE SYSTEMATICALLY ISOLATED FROM EACH OTHER. THE CON- CEPTUAL BRIDGE BETWEEN THEM IS VALUE . BOTH TECH- NOLOGIES, ON THE ONE HAND, AND HUMAN SOCIETY AND LIFE, ON THE OTHER, ARE DEPENDENT UPON THEIR OWN UNDERSTANDINGS OF VALUE. VALUE IS THUS THE STARTING POINT OF OUR ANALYSIS. WHAT, THEN, IS VALUE? ...
